Nepal Portfolio Performance Review (NPPR) quarterly meeting was held on 5 December 2007 at the Ministry of Finance. The objective of the meeting was to review the implementation progresses over the first quarter of current fiscal year 2064/65 against the action plan as agreed upon during the NPPR meeting 2007. The action plan has mandated the concerned stakeholders to review the progress on a trimester basis.
Nepal Portfolio Performance Review (NPPR) 2007 was held on 30-31 August 2007 in Kathmandu with a lead role by Government of Nepal along with joint and active collaboration of Asian Development Bank(ADB), World Bank(WB), Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC), Department for International Development (DFID), and other development partners. The portfolio review meeting has been undergoing every year. Since 2006, the Government of Nepal (GoN) started taking a lead role in order to review the portfolio performance of foreign assisted programs and projects to ensure implementation effectiveness. This initiative is in line with the spirit of adopting Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and also in line with Foreign Aid Policy 2002. At the NPPR 2007 meeting, GoN and development partners mutually agreed to a National Action Plan and Roadmap for the Effective Implementation of the Projects and Programs for the current fiscal year.
During the meeting, GoN presented the progress report till the first quarter of this fiscal year and shared the experiences with different representatives from development partners as well as the sectoral ministries. During the meeting, development partners raised some critical issues and challenges being faced by the project implementation offices at the field level and also of policy level. Finance Secretary Mr. Vidyadhar Mallik responded to some of the issues raised by different representatives. The Secretary (Revenue) Mr. Rameshore Prasad Khanal briefed about current macroeconomic dynamics and its potential trend and some policy directions being taken under by GoN.
