Profile:
Mr Gyawali joined the Civil Service in December 1984 and was placed at the Cabinet Secretariat, where he worked for over 18 years as Section Officer and Under Secretary before joining the Ministry of Finance as Joint Secretary in October 2002. He took over as Head of the Economic Affairs and Policy Analysis Division in January 2003 after taking care for three months of the Monitoring and Evaluation Division and also serving as Member Secretary of the High-level Monitoring Committee formed under the chairpersonship of the Finance Secretary to ensure effective implementation of the Economic Reforms Programme 2002-03. Presently, he also serves as Spokesperson to the MOF.

As a brief spell of his outside career, he once worked as Radio Journalist both with Radio Nepal and the BBC Nepali Service, London. He has also been to several UN Missions including Cambodia, South Africa, East Timor and Kosovo.

He was born on 30 April 1960. He hails from Ridi, Gulmi, Western Nepal.
